Finding the right blinds for your conservatory can be hard to find – especially conservatory roof blinds. This is mainly because people want to purchase blinds, which don’t just look good but are also practical for reducing heat and so on. As a result, many ask what are the best blinds for a conservatory roof?
Blinds We Recommend For a Conservatory Roof…
Duette® Pleated Blinds
Duette® Pleated Blinds offer many advantages in a conservatory: Their honeycomb structure makes them excellent insulators, and their concealed cords mean there are no holes in the fabric letting light through.
A past customer kindly left a review on our Checkatrade page complimenting the neat fit of the Duette® roof blinds:
“Excellent service and product. Even with a modern grey conservatory with unusual shapes, they had a solution that fitted perfectly.”
Although Duette® Pleated blinds are a great solution for many shaped conservatory roofs. Our pure™ Pleated Blinds are much better suited for tricky shaped roof glazing…
pure™ Pleated Blinds
Our unique pure™ pleated blinds offer a neat finish for conservatory roof. Thanks to our pure™ technology, we can cover almost any glazing which other companies would normally leave uncovered. No matter the shape or size of the glazing we will have a solution. Consequently, the roof blinds will truly look like a part of the conservatory instead of an afterthought. Another great advantage of pure™ pleated blinds is when paired with our pure™ rail the blinds virtually disappear when retracted.
Pinoleum Blinds
If you are looking to create a traditional décor in your conservatory. Pinoleum roof blinds are a great choice for those with a timber-framed conservatory or orangery. Similar to pure™ pleated and Duette® pleated blinds, they help to reduce glare and control temperatures. However, their semi-transparent weave design allows for you to still enjoy the outside views
“Having recently fitted pinoleum blinds into our conservatory roof, we wish we had fitted them 20 years ago. Your company excelled in its representative Alan McGann who knew all the details and gave a very good sales presentation. Andy the fitter took time and completed an excellent job. The result is outstanding. Well done. “ – Mrs W
Blinds We Do Not Recommend…
Perfect Fit Blinds
Perfect Fit blinds are a cheap way of putting blinds into a window, and a popular DIY blinds solution. However, they have a lot of drawbacks when compared with blinds specifically designed for conservatories, which is why we rarely recommend them. Several customers ask if perfect fit blinds can fitted for a conservatory roof. While it is technically possible to fit a Perfect Fit frame into a conservatory roof, it’s definitely not something that’s recommended as they have even more drawbacks as roof blinds than they do as side blinds:
- Perfect Fit blinds can only used on standard square or rectangular shapes – trying to fit a Perfect Fit frame to any shape that is more complex than results in a lot of unsightly gaps, and the majority of the roof ends up either being not covered, or covered with a large unmovable infill blind
- The majority of the heat in a conservatory enters through the roof, and the roof needs air gaps to prevent heat building up. The Perfect Fit frame doesn’t allow for these gaps, meaning that there is no way for the heat between the fabric and the glass to escape, which might cause damage to the glass.
Roller Roof Blinds
Roller blinds typically use “energy saver” fabrics, used mainly for basic window blinds, and can cause issues in conservatory roofs. These fabrics are not designed to be used with the modern solar glazing found in conservatory roofs, and in some cases can actually cause damage to the conservatory. We recently saw an example of this with some old pleated blinds (which used the same type of fabric that roller blinds do), that had scorched the frame of the conservatory they were fitted into.
