Duette Conservatory Blinds

Conservatories come in a variety of different shapes, the more popular shapes being the lean-to or Victorian style. Bespoke-shaped conservatories are also on the rise as they give a look that is grand yet modern. Unfortunately, these interesting shapes can make them difficult to shade properly. Shading is, of course, just one of the variables at play, alongside a range of shapes, styles, colours, and blind types to consider. Luckily, that’s where we come in to help you navigate what blinds are best for conservatories.

You can arrange a free, no-obligation quotation appointment with a member of our sales team to find the best blinds for you.

Popular Blinds for a Conservatory

Duette® Blinds for Conservatories

Blinds with Duette® fabrics are becoming increasingly popular. This is mainly because of its clever honeycomb structure, which creates an insulating layer that helps to control temperatures in a glass room such as a conservatory. This means they can help reduce heat build-up in the summer months and keep the warmth in throughout the winter months. They also prevent UV damage to your furnishings. Their unique structure provides all of these functional benefits, as well as the neat aesthetic of having no visible cording holes.

Duette® fabric blinds are very popular now, and – combined with our unique Pure™ Technology – we fit them into a wide range of different conservatory shapes.

Pure™ Pleated Blinds for Conservatories

Specifically designed by us for use in conservatories, our Pure™ Pleated Blinds are ideal for those customers with a bespoke-shaped conservatory. This is because, unlike a lot of the standard blind systems used in the industry, we have designed our Pure™ Pleated Blinds to fit into the most awkward-shaped glazing, including obtuse conservatory roof blinds and triangular gable windows. Our Pure™ pleated blinds use a Solar Design™ fabric; designed specially to reduce a room’s heat and glare. However, they still let in enough natural light to keep your room bright.

Pure™ Pinoleum Blinds for Conservatories

Our Pure™ Pinoleum blinds are ideal for those looking for beautifully classic décor in their conservatory. Popular with timber-framed conservatories, the pinoleum wood weave reduces glare and increases privacy. They can also combine advanced conservatory blind technology with a traditional style. For example, this pinoleum includes a solar-reflective lining that reduces heat during the warmer months.

Thanks to our unique Pure™ Technology, we can also fit into tricky and awkward shapes. This makes them suitable for a wide range of conservatories – transforming your home into a comfortable and character-filled space.

While it is possible to fit the following blinds in a conservatory, they don’t usually offer the benefits of the best possible fit and reducing heat and glare.

What Blinds are Best for Conservatories?

While it is possible to fit the following blinds in a conservatory; they don’t usually offer the best possible fit and are not the best at reducing heat and glare.

Options we offer but do not recommend for conservatories:

Perfect Fit Blinds

Perfect Fit blinds are very popular as DIY blinds, but they are not suited as proper conservatory blinds, they’re designed for other parts of the home such as domestic windows. This is because the large Perfect Fit frame only fits into basic square or rectangular shapes. Consequently, this would be unsuitable for conservatory roofs. While they can be used for side windows in a conservatory, they will cover a large part of the glass. In contrast, we designed our Pure™ pleated and Duette® blinds to cover as little of the glass as possible. They can virtually disappear when retracted.

Roller Blinds

Roller blinds are very well suited to cover large windows and can be a stylish and elegant way to add shading to a room. Their main drawback when it comes to conservatories is that they are not suitable for conservatory roofs. While roller roof blinds are technically possible; we do not recommend them for conservatories as they tend to sag over time. They are also difficult to fit neatly into those awkward shapes found in a conservatory. This can then result in some large gaps. The best way to have roller blinds in a conservatory is to use them only on the sides, with a more suitable blind type on the roof.

What Blinds are Best for Conservatories?

Shutters & Curtains

While not blinds exactly, shutters and curtains have become popular in many homes. However, neither is designed for the extreme temperatures that conservatories face. Again, they are also not suitable for a conservatory roof, and so will not stop most of the heat coming into the room.

The wide range of different options is daunting when you’re looking for blinds for a conservatory. Luckily, it is free for a member of our sales team to come out and help you find what you’re looking for.
