Throughout the recent weeks of very sunny weather, a common problem our customers had before getting blinds was that it was almost impossible to see any sort of screen in the conservatory because of all the glare from the sun. This has been especially frustrating recently as people struggle to watch the World Cup in their conservatories over the last few weeks!
Problems with Glare
Glare from the sun is a big problem in a room like a conservatory or orangery because it gets so much direct sunlight throughout the day; during this time of year some rooms may have the sun coming in constantly from sunrise until sunset. A lot of people use their conservatories as a television room, but even if you don’t the glare from the sun can make it hard to use anything with a screen, such as a phone, laptop or tablet.
Reducing Glare
This is just one of the areas where our blinds can make a real difference in a room. The fabrics we use have been specifically designed to cut out direct sunlight to reduce glare, but still let in enough light to keep the room bright. This means that you can still see screens even during bright and sunny days and your conservatory keeps the light and airy feeling that makes it unique.
To make sure that you get the best protection from glare we recommend both roof and window blinds. The sun’s position in the sky will change not only throughout the day but throughout the year, so getting window blinds will mean you can prevent glare even when the sun is low in the sky, such as late into the evening or during the winter months. Plus, the neat way we can fit our own pure™ Blinds means there will be minimal gaps between blinds to let in sunlight, even if your conservatory roof has unusual or awkward shapes.

“I am writing this in my conservatory having spent a sunny afternoon in it for the very first time.
Until now the glare and heat made it unbearable but I now have a practical summer living space thanks to the pleated roof blinds which were installed this week by a very friendly and skilled fitter.”
– Mr J, Cardiff
“We use our conservatory as our living room, and have venetian blinds to the windows. However, the solar glass roof didn’t prevent the glare of the sun, which was quite a problem. We are happy about sunshine but not about the glare.
The roof blinds you fitted have solved the problem completely. They are unobtrusive, neat and attractive. Several friends have admired them, and confirm they make our living/conservatory room, very comfortable to sit in, even when the sun is at it’s hottest.”
– Mr & Mrs H, Hassocks
“This is just to let you know that we are very happy with our new blinds. They arrived just in time for the warm weather and we have enjoyed eating our lunch in the conservatory with the lovely sky blue blinds above keeping out the heat and glare.”
